Isn't She Beautiful?
11:02pm

My lovely niece got married on Saturday to a very nice and handsome young man. I wish them every happiness! (BTW, she takes after her aunt. Can't you tell?)

OMDG
11:40pm

With the wonderful increase in rain comes the pesky increase of weeds which, for me, means allergies! At first a single Alavert took care of it. However, now with a single Alavert, I'm still sneezing my head off and have that REALLY annoying itching in the back of my mouth. It's incredibly unpleasant and makes it difficult to sleep. So this morning I took my Alavert and tonight I've taken Flonase and a Benedryl. As soon as the Benedryl kicks in, I'll finally be able to sleep! I just hope I wake up in time for class tomorrow.

Holy Moley!
10:57pm

Today was the third day of school and I already have 8 research articles to read for next week as well as writing an abstract for a conference and working on my master's. Also, I was chastised for not having my first client yet. HELLO??? It's day 3 people. And no one has exactly walked us through the process of how you get a client, etc. There is a waiting list at the clinic for us but procedurally, none of that has been gone over with us. I guess we're just supposed to know via osmosis.

Time to hit the hay. Got class at 9am tomorrow.

How Wet Is It?
11:47am

It's soooo wet here in the desert that I have mushrooms growing in my backyard. MUSHROOMS! We normally get less than 4 inches of rain over the summer but this year, between June 15 and August 15, we've gotten almost a foot of rain! It's the most rain since weather records were kept. (Who knows what happened when cave men roamed the southwest?) Personally, I'm not complaining. The days are cool, albeit a bit humid for these parts, and I often wake in the middle of the night to the sound of rain. Ahhh...I love that sound!

Already?
11:07am

Monday is the beginning of yet another school year. I don't even feel like I had a vacation. I must have but I don't feel like it. My main goal for this semester is to finish my thesis and graduate this Christmas with my Masters. It's doable but there's a a lot of work ahead. I think this weekend I'm gonna totally veg out...for the last time until December.

Lookie What I Got!
3:14pm

Woohoo! I got prezzies in the mail today thanks to Kwoozy and Gimme Your Stuff!

The first morning I was in Tahiti I was looking for a snackie-type thing in the hotel gift shop and I came across a Cadbury Hazelnut Brunch Bar. I was a little skeptical but I thought, what the hell. I'm hungry and maybe a Brunch Bar has some sort of nutritional value. Damn that thing was tasty! The rest of the time I was in Tahiti I looked for the bars but I never found them again! Well, I did find ones with raisins (ewwwww!) but not the hazelnut ones. When I got home to the US, I still couldn't find the Cadbury Brunch Bars, either in the US or in Europe. They're REALLY hard to find! When I heard of Gimme Your Stuff, I thought, Aha! Here's a way to find those pesky, addicting bars! And lo and behold, Kwoozy in Australia made my dreams come true! She sent me 6 regular sized bars as well as 6 minis! And then she threw in all sorts of other candy too! I'm not sure about the prune candy, but the rest looks delicious! Also, she took the time to scour fabric stores near her to come up with the fabric the candy is on. It's hard to tell but it's blues and pinks with dragonflies which will be perfect for a baby quilt! Yay!     :)

Guadalajara
7:25pm

No me gusta Guadalajara. Guadalajara es grande y sucio y fuere y pobre. Pero el gente (la gente?) son muy amable. Me encantada Guadalajarans. No me gusta grande ciudades incluso Nuevo York, Chicago, Dallas, etc. Yo soy muy glad to be en casa.

In case you care, the securidad in both GDL and DFW was a joke. No one even looked in my pocketbook. How lame is that?

Anyway, I'm gonna "decompress" this week. I'm sure stories of my travels will dribble out but don't expect a lot of blogging while I gear up to start school next week.

Hi!
10:47pm

Why?
12:23pm

Why does bacon taste so good?

Why did the "check engine" light come on in my car just when I got back from the body shop? Could the whole car just behave for a while?

Why did I find a live snail in my house?

Why is there always more laundry to be done? And on that same thread, why are there always more bills to be paid?

Why has my metabolism completely crapped out?

Why are my cats completely psycho at 5:30 in the morning?

UPDATE: Why do some people think that pink and brown go together? (no offense April)

More Tricky Than I Thought
8:28pm

I'm participating in some swaps with people around the world (Singapore, Australia, Canada) via this site and a couple of them were interested in fabric. I thought, "Well that's easy enough!" but when I was at the fabric store, I had NO IDEA what to get! I started overthinking everything like, "well I think this is cute but they might think it's ugly and that I have no taste!" Also, it was obvious that what's trendy now is REALLY bright colors which one person said would not be as useful for her so I avoided those which means I avoided a LOT of stuff. Another one was interested in old postcards, etc and, again, it was difficult to guess what types of cards she would like. The last one wanted anything and I have to say that was the most fun! Meh, I did my best and tomorrow all packages will be sent.

Just FYI: the trading post here will be closed until September. I'm swapped out for now.

Huh?
11:26pm

How on earth is it August already? Who did that? Crap!

I'm disappointed that my blog What Can You Buy for a Buck has not taken off. It started out well, but has petered out. All I get now is about 100 pieces of spam a day since I publicized a particular email for that effort. Ah well. I thought it was an interesting idea!

I have my car back in one piece but my body is still hurting. It's really strange. The accident was practically in slow motion but my shoulder still is not doing well. My acupuncturist did cupping on my back on Monday which was a very interesting experience. I still have HUGE purple hickeys on my back from it. However, when the cups were on there, I could feel the muscles in my shoulder relaxing for the first time in weeks! It didn't hurt. It felt like giant squid suction cups from their tentacles were stuck to my back. Sure looks nasty tho!

I'm about to embark on a strenuous 4-hour a day Spanish language intensive class. I've always wanted to learn another language, and I know some Spanish, German and even less Japanese but I've never been anything close to fluent. And now I have a hard tie remembering English words, so of course this is a great time to try to learn a foreign language! Wish me luck!
